In addition to the usual services you’d expect, at Associates In Dentistry we also provide our patients with additional dental services you might not expect. It’s all part of offering comprehensive dental services. If you think you or a family member could benefit from any of these special services, give us a call at 309-690-4500.
Some of these services may not be things you realized could be treated by a dentist. We’re happy to explain to you how we treat these conditions:
We carry special oral hygiene products including tongue brushes, bleaching refills, Oxyfresh, Prevident and Fluridex. We also provide protective athletic mouthguards and night guards for bruxism.
If you have white spots on your teeth, we can hide them by blending them with the color of the rest of your teeth in an easy, painless way using Icon, a minimally invasive restorative treatment for post-ortho white-spot lesions (WSLs) and certain congenital hypocalcified enamel lesions. These are white spots you’ve had on your teeth most of your life.
There are two main types of white spots. WSLs are associated with subsurface enamel porosities usually resulting from plaque, bacteria and acids. With time, remineralization at the outer surface of the tooth decreases the access of calcium and other ions to deeper portions of the enamel, causing the spot to appear. The other type of white spot is called a hypocalcified spot. These tend to be white spots that have been on the teeth for as long as you can remember. Another possibility is white spots caused by enamel bruising. These spots are often referred to as congenital enamel defects. Trauma or infection involving the primary teeth often causes these spots.
Icon is a liquid-like white filling that penetrates demineralized enamel and helps fade the appearance of white spots on the teeth. It blends with the existing color of the tooth, making the white spot less noticeable. Timing depends on the severity of the white spots, but the process typically lasts from 20-45 minutes. It’s painless. the tooth.
We cannot guarantee that the spot will disappear completely. But the difference is often quite significant. Treatment renders most spots no longer visible.
