How can I prevent gum disease?

More than 80 percent of American adults have some form of gum disease. In its earliest stage, your gums might swell and bleed easily. At its worst, you might lose your teeth. Brushing and flossing your teeth every day along with regular visits to your dentist can help prevent plaque build up around the gum line and actually reverse early stages of gum disease.

What should I expect my first visit?

Typically during your first visit, we will do a complete dental exam, check for cavities and gum disease, and take a full mouth series of x-rays. This appointment also includes a consultation with the doctor to discuss any further questions or necessary dental treatment. Your first cleaning will be scheduled after the best course of treatment has been determined.

How does the Zoom Whitening System work?

The procedure is simple and consists of a mixture of gel and special light wave treatments. First, we cover your lips and gums so that only your teeth are exposed; then a special gel is applied to the exterior faces of the teeth. Once all teeth have been evenly coated, a special light works with the gel to gently break up stains and discoloration on your teeth. Typical treatment time is one hour with results as much as 8 shades lighter. Alternative bleaching options are also available.

At what age should my child first see a dentist?

We recommend your child's first dental visit occur around age 3. Dental problems can begin earlier than this however, so it is important you remember to brush your child’s teeth regularly and report any problems or concerns you have to us immediately. The earlier the dental visit…the earlier a thorough prevention program can begin and dental problems avoided. Children with healthy teeth chew food easily, learn to speak clearly and smile with confidence.

What are Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells that slide snugly over teeth and are well-known for being a fast solution to beautiful smiles. Since veneers can require little or no tooth reduction, they are an excellent alternative to crowns to alter tooth position, shape, size and color. They are also very natural looking, resistant to injury and long-lasting – making them the perfect solution for your smile.

How often should I visit the Dentist?

Most children and adults should have a regular dental cleaning and check-up every six months. People at a greater risk for oral diseases should visit your dentist more than twice a year.
